The DiscoverEu project, the European Union’s initiative that allows 20,000 young people to travel across the continent with free Interrail tickets, is back on track.
The project that gives away 20,000 Interrail tickets, available for young people born between July 2, 2000 and July 1, 2001, for a journey of discovery of the old continent, is restarting.
How to get tickets?
You must submit your application on the initiative’s website by 16 May. The young people selected by the European Union will be able to travel for a period ranging from 1 to 30 days from 1 August 2019 to 31 January 2020.
The Italian youth will compete for 2,361 Interrail passes, a subdivision made on the basis of the population present in the different European countries.
It is also possible to organize group trips as long as they do not exceed 5 participants. The trips can also be made between children of different nationalities. The organization of these groups is benefited by the presence of a Facebook group made available by the organization of the project.
The young people selected to take advantage of this initiative will take the title of “DiscoverEU Ambassadors” and will be invited to speak and show their experience through their social accounts.
Who can participate in DiscoverEU?
Here are the criteria to be admitted to the European Union’s DiscoverEU initiative:
- be born between 2 July 2000 and 1 July 2001;
- be a citizen of one of the Member States of the European Union.
- At the time of registration you will be asked for the number of your identity card or passport. You must also specify the number of people with whom you intend to travel, whether alone or in a group of up to 5 people.
Finally, you will be asked to provide further information about your travel project and each candidate will be given a personal identification code.
Once all this information has been entered, candidates who choose to travel alone will have to “correctly answer the 5 multiple-choice questions in the quiz and the playoff question”, while for groups only the one indicated as group leader will answer.
Between 6 and 20 June 2019 all participants will be notified via email of the outcome of the competition and, therefore, whether or not they have won the trip to discover Europe.
